Ministry Assistant (Part-Time)

Position Overview
Immanuel Baptist Church of North Augusta is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented part-time Ministry Assistant to support the administrative and financial operations of the church. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the faithful, accurate, and timely handling of church finances while also providing limited administrative support to the pastoral staff and church ministries. The ideal candidate is trustworthy, organized, and comfortable working with financial records in a ministry setting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Accounting (Primary Responsibility)
Receive, secure, and record weekly contributions and other church income
Prepare payroll and vendor checks for review by the Treasurer
Maintain contribution records and generate quarterly and annual contribution statements
Electronically submit federal, state, and payroll-related taxes and reports
Prepare and distribute W-2s, 1099-NECs, and related documentation
Maintain bank authorization records and financial files
Assist with budget preparation by compiling financial data and worksheets
Prepare annual reports and audits as required (e.g., Workers’ Compensation, denominational reporting)
Administrative Support (Secondary Responsibility)
Serve as a welcoming point of contact during office hours (phone, email, limited in-person)
Process mail and maintain essential office files and records
Prepare correspondence related to contributions, memorials, and honorariums
Maintain a master church calendar in coordination with staff
Assist pastor and leadership with documentation as needed
Coordinate limited office purchasing related to financial or operational needs
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience in administrative or financial office work preferred
Working knowledge of basic accounting principles (e.g., payroll, general ledger, balancing accounts)
Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office or similar)
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
Active participation in a Christian church and alignment with the mission and values of Immanuel Baptist Church
Accountability & Professional Expectations
Accountable for financial integrity and ethical handling of church funds
Represents the church with professionalism, discretion, and warmth
Works cooperatively with pastoral staff, Treasurer, and church leadership
Position is subject to annual performance review
